The Mountain Equipment web site has had a bit of an update. It is,
says the c ompany, just the start of a gradual redevelopment of the
site with - and we quote - 'new layouts, improved navigation and more
importantly, up to date information on the products we
manufacture'.
The initial changes are mainly cosmetic and the site does look a
lot more conemporary. The most obvious new development though is the
addition of the new range of Mountain
Equipment tents to the site in a new format.
If you've missed their introduction, then briefly, they're a range
of new, UK-specific tents plus a Quasar-type expedition geodesic,
all designed by a leading dutch tent expert. We've seen
pre-production versions and have a Torres 2 mountain geodesic tent on
test, which feels like it's going to be bombproof. It's an
interesting three-pole design with an additional fourth pole which
can be added for winter use. You also get handy 'pitch as one'
design, something that's the aAchilles heel of many geodesic designs.
More information in a few weeks time.

us section of the site to give them feedback on the new site
design plus any ME product.
