My Bivvy Bag Is Pink...

Pink bivvy bags, British-made merino hybrid baselayers and more coming soon from Alpkit.

The Alpkit kids were at the OS Outdoors Show at the weekend and showing off a few new developments that are in the pipeline and will be available from their site shortly.

To complement their range of Airic mats and down sleeping bags, there's going to be an Alpkit bivvy bag. The prototype is a fetching pink and looked very, very lovely, as did gorgerous, pouting Alpkit model, Chunk.

Production versions are, apparently, not going to be pink, which is a shame, but there you go. More details once they're available.

Also due out soon from the Alpkitties, are some baselayers using a hybrid merino and polyester combination fabric and manufactured right here in the UK. The idea is that the merino side sits next to the skin and absorbs moisture and fights smells while the outer polyester fibres take over to spread and disperse the dampness outwards. We've found similar fabrics highly effective, so it looks like a good call.

No idea on prices yet, but like all Alpkit stuff, they should be super competitive. Again, more details once they're available.

Also back on sale are Alpkit's excellent carbon fibre trekking poles priced at £45 including delivery and new to the world is the Filet goosedown vest, building on the success of the Filo jacket.
