One last gem from this year's Harrogate Outdoors Trade Show -
emphatically not the last Harrogate show ever regardless of what
anyone might tell you, and that's official ahem - anyway, back to
the last gem, which is a rather nice looking range of footwear from a
source which might surprise you.
Before we tell you the brand behind the boots and shoes, take a
look at a few pics and decide whether you like the look of them, we
did...

If you haven't twigged yet - come on, look a bit closer - the
brand is Regatta and this is an entirely new range of Regatta-branded
footwear which has been in development for, well, ages. Okay, so
no-one's suggesting that Regatta is about to give Scarpa hell in the
technical boot market, but this is properly developed outdoors
footwear with stiffened mid-soles, waterproof liners and so on.
There are approach shoes - probably the best-looking part of the
line-up - lightweight walking boots and even sandals, with even more
to come later. We spend a happy evening passing boots around a fish
restaurant in Harrogate, unfortunately we were so drunk we lost the
press pack and have forgotten most of the salient information about
the boots.
What we can tell you is this: they'll appear in shops early next
year at very affordable prices, they were mainly developed by a nice
man brought in from Hi-Tec who was indirectly responsible for getting
us all drunk, that they're available in men's and women's specific
versions, there are two levels, one more technical than the other,
and that treating journalists to slap-up meals is a two-edged sword
once they reach the point of forgetting what you're trying to tell
them.
Never mind. The bottom line is that they look like nice boots,
we'll have a few on test some time soon and when the nice people from
Regatta read this and despairingly send us another press pack, we'll
tell you a bit more about them.
Bueno estante :-)
