New British Merino Outfit Launches

A quick heads up on Embers Merino a new company specialising in merino wool clothing and based in Derbyshire.

The outfit was set up by Peak District local Chris and his Kiwi partner Marianna from South Island, who are both active bikers, kayakers, walkers and skiers.

As a New Zealander, Marianna grew up with merino wool and its excellent moisture management, comfort and anti-odour properties and the company's wool comes direct from New Zealand.

The actual clothing is then made up in the Far East to Embers' specifications and sold direct from their slick web site. What makes the company's designs stand out, says Marianna, is that while the garments are designed for an active outdoor lifestyle, Embers aims to 'step away from the purely functional look of many bike / active products'.

Take a look at the web site and you can see where they're coming from. Embers stuff looks good enough for general casual wear and going out in with some neat graphics adding a touch of difference to the designs. There's a choice of weights and styles as well from casual jackets through to simple tee-shirt designs.
