Interesting new dual glove system from Mammut,
the Expert Climb,
which has an ingenious lacing system to give what the company says is
an optimal balance between insulation, weather protection and
'especially high sensitivity'.
The glove is aimed at climbers and ski mountaineers featuring top spec
materials like Schoeller Keptrotec Stretch, Dura Stretch and cowhide
leather palms. All that stretch material is crucial because what makes
the glove different is the Mammut Lace-Fit system.
Based on a shoe lace-type model, the single lace goes around the wrist
and is pulled closed using Velcro. The lace is arranged slightly
asymmetrically in a zig-zag pattern on the outer surface of the glove
up to the knuckles, which gives - says Mammut - 'a great fit across the
front of the hand'.
The inner surface is reinforced with leather and bombproof stretch
Keptrotec and the stretch fabric of the rest of the glove is designed
to give added freedom of movement. The glove's a two-part
affair
with a thinner inner Power Stretch glove complete with durable leather
palms that can be worn alone in milder conditions.
The outer glove is tougher and also uses a Gore-Tex insert for water
and wind protection, so together the two form a modular system that can
be used across a range of temperatures and conditions.
