New Nikwax prooferNikwax proofing for boots has changed with the traditional Pastewax being replaced with new WaterBased Waterproofing Wax For Leather some 30 years after founder Nick Brown first invented the stuff.

So it's goodbye to solvent-based tins of Nikwax and hello to the new tubed stuff. Nikwax says it stays true to 'the company’s unyielding environmental standards' but also works very, very well. What's more it can be applied to wet or dry leather and is immediately effective, so no waiting around for it to cure. In addition, it doesn't impair the breathability of the leather.

Application is either by sponge or by hand using the novel applicator, it says here. Pride and Prejudice we reckon for those traditional boots and maybe something a little more contemporary for dapper approach shoes.

Available in 60 mL and 100 mL sizes. SRP: SRP for 60ml is £2.99 and 100ml is £3.99.

I thought the wax came from bee sources before? In which case, wasn't the old stuff pretty green then already?
