New Nuts Launch In Two Weeks...

A new British climbing hardware brand will be hitting the shops in around two weeks time, the first new label we've seen for ages...

Zero G is the brainchild of Kendal-based, UK Marmot and Simond Distributor Mountain Works. The initial range is going to be aimed primarily at beginner climbers, and includes some very light carabiners, sets of nuts, a belay device and quick draws.

The aim, says Cathy Casey of Mountain Works, is to produce kit packaged so as to be easily accessible to and understandable by beginners but also with the sort of quality that will be appreciated by beginners and experienced climbers alike. In short it should appeal to anyone who climbs and is looking to buy hardware.

The Zero G stuff is intrinsically beginner friendly because it will be sold in inclusive packs, so, for example, you'll be able to buy a full set of nuts in one packet for £50, or alternatively a half set of small or large nuts. Also available will be sets of ten quickdraws, a belay device and locking carabiner combo and so on.

We had a look at the kit and it looks and feels nicely made. One neat touch is that the rocks on wire are anodised in different colours, which is very attractive, but also dead useful when it comes to sorting your number three from your number four in the midst of a runner placement panic frenzy episode.
