Totally revised TIKKA and ZIPKA models launch this September 2009.
Petzl has
revamped and improved its complete range of compact
TIKKA and
ZIPKA headtorches for
this autumn, 2009, with the new TIKKA2 and ZIPKA2 due in the shops from
September 2009 fitted with state of the art LEDs.
New Tikka XP -
uprated LED, high / low / flash settings
and switchable
from white to red light.
Output 60 lumens
with 60m range - £45
There are general improvements right across the range of compact
torches along with some new models. Light output and beam performance
has been improved with increased battery life at the same time.
On all but the base model, you can now use alkaline, rechargeable and
lithium batteries. There are different lighting modes accessed by an
electronic switch. The design has been subtly tweaked too with new
colours and transparent features plus more contemporay lines plus a
wide-opening battery compartment for easier cell swappage.
Prices range from £20 for the new entry level
TIKKINA through to
£45 for an uprated
TIKKA
XP which features a new, more powerful, single LED to give
a beam reaching out to 60 metres on its max setting.
New TIKKA2 uses
four LEDs and has an output of some
40 lumens on high to give a 29-metre beam - £32.50
All the torches weigh between around 80-90 grammes with the TIKKINA
putting out 23 lumens with two settings, the straight TIKKA and ZIPKA
with two settings plus a flash giving 40 lumens, the TIKKA and ZUPKA
PLUS with single LED giving 50 lumens and also being switchable from
white to red light and finally, the top of the range TIKKA XP with its
60 lumen output again with the red / white switching capability plus a
new, easier to use wider angle lens, which we assume means the diffuser
fitted to that model.
The torches are also compatible with Petzl's ADAPT mounting system
allowing them to be used with different mounts, so the torch can easily
be swapped between, say, helmet, shoulder strap and pack mounts if you
so desire.
The TIKKA and ZIPKA 2 should be in the shops from September, 2009. More
