Wahey, yep the postman just rolled up with Petzl's new Myo
headtorch in a nice padded Jiffy bag.
We've told you all about the Myo before - see
this article - but this is the first chance we've had to get our
paws on one in the plasticated flesh. It should also be appearing in
the shops right about now.
Briefly, the Myo is Petzl's replacement for the venerable classic
Zoom headtorch, but more importantly, it's their first realistic
entry into the hybrid halogen / LED arena. We're discounting the
overweight Duo combo by the way.
The version we have is the £40 Myo 3 which combines a
zoomable halogen beam with an integral 3-LED light for maximum
versatility and runs on 4 AA cells. There's also a straight zoomable
halogen-only Myo for £27 and the Myo 5 - with 5 LEDs, doh... -
at £50. The 3 and the 5 are also available in 'belt'
configuration with a remote battery pack at the same price.
Anyway, it looks dead nice, weighs 226 grammes on the button with
batteries, which compares to 312 grammes for a Zoom, but for the rest
plus some initial user impressions, you'll have to wait till
tomorrow, yep, even darkest Glossop gets sunlight in May...
MORE TOMORROW...
