New Poles Could Save 15,000 Kilos A Year
... or an awful lot of soft loo rolls.

Around 87,500 kilos of walking pole were sold in the UK last year
according to Brasher.
Yer what? Okay, Brasher estimate that 125,000 pairs of trekking
poles were bought in the UK in 2000, if you assume they weigh around
700g per pair, you get the 87,500 kilo figure.
The good news is that if everyone went out and bought Brasher's
new Supalite Trekking Poles, which weigh just 250g per pole -
'equivalent to three soft tissue loo rolls' it says here - that
figure would fall to 62,500 kilos, or by Brasher's reckoning, 750,000
soft loo rolls...

Would you swap your trekking
poles for
six soft loo rolls? Me neither, except in
extreme circumstances
|
Er yes. The good news is that Brasher's new trekking pole is
extrememly light as we can testify having swung one around at a
recent trade show, that's light as in noticeably lighter than other
poles we've tried.
They use a buckle-free, Neoprene padded strap for comfort -
adjustment is via a cam system within the handle - and are made from
aerospace quality, heat-treated aluminium for a high strength to
weight ration.
They fold down into three sections for easy stowage, have an
extended foam handle section for strange gripping manoeuvres in odd
places and sport a tungsten carbide tip for wear resistance and
grip.
If you're after a very light trekking pole, take a look at the
Brasher web site
for further information. Price is around £60 per pair.
