First look at The North Face's technical mountain jacket using Gore-Tex Active Shell fabric.

Latest OutdoorsMagic review is the new Alpine Project Jacket from The North Face, the US brand's first jacket in the UK to use the exceptionally breathable lightweight Gore-Tex Active Shell fabric.

Inetrerestingly, while other shells from rival brands tend to be very close-fitting and minimal, the Alpine Project's slightly more generous cut and length plus big pockets and pit-zips mean it can, at a pinch, do double duty as an all-round mountain jacket as well as a specialist climbing shell.
