There's a new addition
to the Scarpa range in the UK this spring 2010 with the
arrival of the Kailash
GTX, a three-season, lightweight boot, which is part of
the ZG collection and comes in both men's and women's versions.
Men's Version
Scarpa says: 'The Kailash GTX is positioned as a lightweight but still
incredibly durable three-season design, built for low level trekking
adventures in the hills.'
As with other models in the ZG range, the Kailash uses suede and
Cordura uppers with ZG soft fit technology. There's a Gore-Tex lining
to keep things on the dry side and the boot has a Vibram Hi-Trail Lite
sole unit.
There's a toe rand for durability, a hell protector using the same
material plus bi-directional ankle fit to aid precision on uneven
ground. Weight is claimed to be in the region of 1260 grammes for a
pair, which is reasonably light, but certainly not outrageously
underbuilt.
Womens's version - familiar...
The aim is a combination of weather protection, support and light
weight, but not at the expense of durability says Scarpa.
The boot may be new to the UK, but has been available in the States, we
think, since 2008, where it won a coveted Backpacker Editor's Choice
Award and was generally well reviewed.
The Kailash GTX will be in the shops shortly and you can get full
details of stockists and the current Scarpa range in the UK at www.scarpa.co.uk.
