New Windproof Buffs For Winter

New this autumn from Buff is a pair of Gore-Tex Windstopper-based, winter-friendly Buffs that combine characteristic versatility with a high level of protection - and they look good too :-)

Most OMers will be familiar with the humble microfibre Buff and maybe a few of its deviant brothers, like the Polar Buff, but now there are two new Buffs hanging tough on the block for winter: the Cyclone and the Typhoon, both incorporating Gore-Tex Windstopper fabric for added windproof protection.

Typhoon BUff

The Typhoon is the Mr Black of the Buff range aiming to offer maximum protection thanks to a combination of Gore-Tex Windstopper - the stripy bit in the pic and soft, insulating Polartec fleece.

As with all Buffs, it's a multi-funtional headgear party. You can wear it as a neckerchief, slip it up to work as an ear and neck warmer, turn it round so it's a face mask or tighten the drawcord and make it into a fleecy windproof hat.

Because it's part fleece and part Windstopper you can place the warm or windproof bits strategically depending on what level of protection you're after. Think of it as a hat that will also work as a balaclava or a windproof face mask or simply as a comfortable, warm and windproof neck warmer and you'lll get the idea.

Price is £24.99 and if that sounds steep, bear in mind that you're getting a lot of weather protection and versatility for your money.

Cyclone Buff

Like the Typhoon, the Cyclone incorporates Windstopper, but this time with a tube of stretchy double thickness Buff microfibre which makes it more versatile than the Typhoon.

Again you can wear it as a neckerchief - muff? - mask or hat, but the stretch section which is partterned in the pic, also allows you to use it in full-on balaclava mode with the stretch section around the top of your head while the windproof bit protects your vulnerable neck - we reckon it would work well under a climbing helmet in this mode, though overall the Typhoon offers more ultimate warmth thanks to the fleece section.

Price is the same as the Typhoon at £24.99
