Optimus has issued a recall on two of its multifuel stoves due to faults which could, in some circumstances cause fuel leakage and pose a fire hazard as a result. Here's the recall information in full:

IMPORTANT CONSUMER INFORMATION

Katadyn Products Inc. announces voluntary recall of certain Optimus stoves

Following product observation and quality assurance measures, Katadyn Products Inc. announced a voluntary

recall of the Optimus Nova and Optimus Nova+ Multifuel Expedition Stoves: A fine edge left over from tooling

of the quick-action coupling and of the ON/OFF fuel supply valve of the pump may cause the O-rings to wear

prematurely. Also, the O-rings used in the fuel hose and in the ON/OFF valve on some stoves can expand in

certain kinds of fuel. Some Nova stoves of the latest production lots may have fuel hoses which are not

completely crimped and could get detached. These failures can cause fuel leakage and thus pose a fire hazard

to consumers.

The following products are affected by the recall:

· Optimus Nova Multifuel Stove (Art. No. 8016276)

· Optimus Nova+ Multifuel Stove (Art. No. 8016277)

· Optimus Pump for Nova and Nova+ (Art. No. 8017904)

· Optimus Nova and Nova+ Spare Parts Set Light (Art. No. 8016305 + 8520)

· Optimus Nova and Nova+ Spare Parts Set (Art. No. 8017632 + 8511).

All affected Multifuel Stoves have a black burner housing and a QA No. between QA000011 and

QA007313. Nova and Nova+ Stoves with a silver burner housing do not have any QA No. and are not

affected by this recall. The recalled stoves and pumps were sold at outdoor and sporting goods retailers or on

the internet between January 2009 and September 2010.

I found some articles about getting firewood for free from this multi fuel stoves blog - do you think it is actually possible and realistic?

Also is there other ways to get wood cheaper?

Ok....

1st point: Canned meat product.

2nd point: No, there is no way to get wood cheaper. It's not like it grows on trees FFS!
