We've already told you about Osprey's revised Atmos packs and new
women's-specific Aura range for this spring, but also new for 2009 is the Osprey Talon 5.5
super-light fast movers pack.
The new 5.5-litre version of the existing Talon is aimed principally at
runners and mountain bikers and is a development of the existing Talon
range with its ultra-lightweight fabric and distinctive reflective
'Talon' accents running down the back of the pack.
Features include a stretch-woven front pocket, quick access hydration
sleeve, panel loading entry, and a die-cut Bio-Stretch
harness. The back system, like the larger Talon models, is an AirScape
backpanel with ridge moulded foam and built in air channels.
The stretch foam ventilated foam in the harness should make the latest
Talon well suited to minimalist fast movers. The 5.5 is available in
two torso lengths and weighs 480g in the small/medium size or 525g in
medium/large. Price is £40.
Also new to the range is the Talon
4, a neat looking 'active lumbar pack' - bum-bag to you
and me - which uses a hip compression system that also secures water
bottles carried in the twin reinforced bottle sleeves. There are also
dual hip-belt pockets, an internal mesh pocket and a front-zippered
pocket as well. Price is £30
