Out very shortly from Paramo is their new jacket, the
Pajaro, which they describe as a 'country lifestyle' garment
with a nice ecological twist.
The twist is that for every Pajaro jacket sold, Paramo will donate
sufficient money to Trees For Life to plant a sapling in the
Caledonian forest, which has to be a good thing. The idea is both to
reduce the carbon footprint of the jacket and to restore the once
massive forest to 600 square miles in the north-central
Highlands.
The jacket itself is more a general outdoor jacket than a
specialist walking garment, though it's made using the same
directional fabrics as other jackets in the range and also has the
fully-adjustable Paramo hood with wired peak.
The main point of difference is that the Pajaro has loads of handy
pockets to transport lots of things. We confidently predict that its
combination of weather protection, insulation, pockets and
rustle-free performance and easy repairability will go down a storm
with twitchers, photographers or simply those working regularly in
the outdoors.
Colour is moss - as pictured - so it should blend in nicely.
Retail price will be £250 and the jacket is available in both
men's and women's versions. Weight is a very reasonable 835 grammes
for the women's version and 885 grammes for the men's.
The Pajaro will make its first appearance at the Rutland BirdFair
in August. You can see the current Paramo range at www.paramo.co.uk
