The focus is on women's-specific kit this winter at Paramo with the launch of a High Mountain clothing system designed for women, by women.

Along with the High Mountain stuff, there are other new products designed to cater for both women and men including new styles of Paramo's reversible baselayers.

Women's High Mountain Kit

Paramo says it's responding to a growing demand from women doing 'hard mountaineering' and wanting to buy Paramo clothing that fits them and the new kit was developed in conjunction with female outdoor professionals.

The result is the new Ladies' Aspira Smock and Ladies' Aspira Trousers both using the familar Nikwax Analogy directional fabrics with their excellent moisture management qualities, durability and renewability.

The smock version of the Aspira was chosen for the women's specific treatment because, Paramo says, of the uncluttered front panel, which is ideal for harness use, the easy venting via the long, reversed front zip and the helmet-compatible front hood. Articulated arms and shoulders are designed for good mobility.

Meanwhile, the matching trousers include reinforcement in key abrasion areas like the backside, knees and ankles. The trousers also boast the brilliantly named 'access all areas seat' which allows the waist band to stay in place while, er, other areas are access during what Paramo euphemistically calls 'comfort stops on the hill'. Oooh, I'm just going to powder my nose.

Okay, it's a delicate area, but an important one for women hill-goers, so it's nice to see Paramo addressing the issue and hopefully, scoring a bulls-eye - watch this space for a test coming soon.

The trousers can be worn next to skin or teamed with Paramo Stretch Pants in extreme cold conditions. Side zips provide extra ventilation when needed.

Ladies' Velez Adventure

Also new to the waterproof line-up is the new Ladies' Velez Adventure top, basically a fixed-hood, women's specific version of the existing Velez Smock and aimed at multi-activity users.

That's walkers, mountain bikers, adventure racers and similar. Like the men's version, it features unique twin zips at the front (for rapid cooling when required), fully articulated shoulders and elbows for freedom of movement and a drop tail for lower back protection all teamed with a roll-away integral hood.

New Trekker Hoodie And More

Also new this winter is the Trekker Hoodie, basically a hooded version of Paramo's reversible shirts with a relaxed fit for all-round use. Again it can be used next to skin or teamed with other items from the range for more extreme conditions.

The new Parameter S fabric is 15 per-cent lighter which is wind resistant, fully reversible and quick drying.

Also new are ladies and men's Cambia sport vests and men's briefs.
