Paramo Unveils Two-Faced Base...

Baselayer tee-shirt that is - the new Cambia is supposed to offer two levels of cooling depending on which way out you wear it. Interesting stuff for baselayer fans...

An interesting new one from Paramo this, it's a baselayer top that's actually reversible to give a choice of two levels of cooling.

The Parameta T fabric, like many baselayers out there has two faces - the difference with the Paramo version is that you can wear it either way round. The 'smooth' side of the fabric, which unsurpisingly is smooth in texture, is claimed to 'reduce pooling of perspiration to eliminate cold spots after exercise' - presumably the extra surface area wicks more effectively.

Meanwhile, the other 'honeycomb' face, it says here, 'provides dry comfort in cooler conditions. presumably because the honeycomb pattern traps more air close to the skin, upping insulation values.

The Cambia Tshirt is available in both men's and women's versions and as a long-sleeved unisex model, is mildly stretchy, weighs around 133 grammes and costs £25. But does it work? The good news is that we have one here, so we'll be putting it to the test over the next few weeks and getting back to you with our verdict.

Meanwhile, for more information about Paramo's directional clothing system, see their web site.

just thought I would let you know I've just got back from a shout on great gable where I was using one of the new paramo reversable base layers.

I had it on the keeping cool side as we had to go quickly up Gavel Neese.

It performs very well, a bit softer than coolmax and not as heavy as as the Lowe stuff, give me a while and I will report back on the other side.

It does seem to be a bit wiffy, but that could just have been me!

G'night

Cheers Guy.

I've been looking at that over the weekend and was wonder how it performed. At £25, that is a very reasonable price esp. for Paramo.
