Pay Attention: Pink Boot Warning!

Brasher unveils a new pastel menace with pink women's-specific boots set to be unleashed on the world just in time for Christmas. Oh lordy, what have we done to deserve this?

'Ladies, are you tired of tripping around the countryside in dull colours? Then why not give the new Brasher Colima GTX a whirl? Available in sky blue and rose pink, the Colima GTX is THE technical walking boot for the fashion-conscious lady about town - and country!' Yes, new this season from Brasher, the Colima GTX is guaranteed to get you noticed! Wear the Colima GTX with a sunny smile - it's sure to turn heads on the hill, not ankles!

Okay, enough of that, and besides, this is a women's-specific, technical walking boot that Brasher say is designed to cope with any kind of below-the-snow mountain terrain. The Colima GTX is built along the lines of Brasher's perennial favourite, the Trailmaster, with the signature Brasher out-of-the-box comfort and fit. The upper is stain- and water-resistant 1.6-1.8mm suede, with a guaranteed waterproof GORE-TEX Top-Dry breathable membrane. There's also a classic Brasher Revalation mud-shedding sole in case you accidently wander into a muddy field.

Unveiled to a crack team of outdoor journalists last week, the Colima GTX is part of the new Brasher range that will be in the shops in March 2005. But Brasher say that the response to the Pink 'Un has been so positive that they're going to try and get it to the shops for December. Presumably for the 'Jesus, it's 4pm on Christmas Eve and I haven't bought my girlfriend's present yet; she's gonna kill me' market.

Brasher says that the boot is specced right up for long walks and heavy loads below the snowline, but our guess is that it will appeal to the same rugged outdoor people who drive the kids to school in a Hummer with a Greenpeace sticker on the back, and most will never see daylight again once they've been broken through the crust of a few squishy cowpats.

Does the world need a technical walking boot in shades of pastel? Obviously. The Colima GTX is available in Sky and Rose - that's blue and pink to you - and will retail for around £100. Available at selected retailers from December-ish.

Ok so these look awful but how can pink walking boots look so bad when some of us are wearing pink rockboots which look well, a little silly but acceptable?
