Petzl Sarken Crampon Recall
Give a tired old crampon a break - and a replacement

Top climbing gear manufacturer Petzl have announced a recall of their Sarken crampons on the grounds that they aren't as durable as initially thought. These grippy little fellas - available in black or tasty orange versions (right) - are liable to wear out too quickly after heavy use, according to the manufacturers, causing the metal behind the front points to crack and possibly even to break.
Sale and production of the Sarkens has now stopped and anyone who has a pair stashed away in their cupboards should return them to the retailer in exchange for another pair of Petzl crampons, free of charge. A full list of alternative models is available on the Petzl website.
As for anyone who's taken their Sarkens out of the cupboard recently, to dust them off for the winter season, they should have a re-think! Petzl advises against any further use.
More information and full details of how to return Sarken crampons is available on the Petzl website.
