Plas y Brenin Instructors To Trial ME Gore-Tex Kit

Mountain Equipment's Gore-Tex clothing is about to get a proper trashing before it's even on the shelves.

As part of a three-way partnership between Mountain Equipment, Gore-Tex and the Welsh National Mountaineering Centre at Plas y Brenin, instructors at the Brenin will be using ME's latest Gore-Tex products before they hit the retailers.

With instructors being out on the hill five or six days a week in all conditions, the feedback should enable ME to hone its respected clothing to an every sharper edge plus help Gore's fabric development.

Jonathan Burnel of Gore explains: "We stake our reputation on our fabrics withstanding the most advanced lab testing procedures. But there is simply no substitute for day-in-day-out wear and tear of mountaineering to put a fabric truly to the test."

"By offering the very latest in gear development to Plas-y-Brenin we can take an extra step in guaranteeing retailers and consumers the best products - that are fit for purpose."

Mountain Equipment's Andrew Denton agrees: "Mountain Equipment is delighted to be working with Plas-y-Brenin and I'm sure that the feedback on product performance from the Centres' Trainers and Mountain Leaders will prove invaluable.

It's a big year for Plas y Brenin, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and it looks like the staff'll be celebrating in Mountain Equipment Gore-Tex clothing then.
