If you've ever wished you could try a new waterproof shell before you splash the cash, you're dreams are about to come true thanks to the guys at Rab.

From 1, October 2005, you'll be able to borrow a Rab eVENT waterproof jacket from one of 80 selected specialist retailers and use the jacket in real UK mountain conditions before making a decision.

Here on OUTDOORSmagic we've been very impressed with eVENT and reckon it's appreciably more breathable than other conventional wateproof fabrics on the market, so it's a great way of promoting it and an ideal opportunity for you to find out whether you really can notice a difference.

Three Months...

The promotion will run for three months until the end of December and retailers will have both Rab Latok Alpine jackets for men and women's Vidda jackets to lend out, so you should be able to find something to fit you.

There'll be a list of participating retailers at the Rab website once the scheme is underway, but we thought you might like an early warning in case you're in the market for a new jacket this autumn. Hats off to Rab for a great idea.
