Entries for the Go Outdoors Outdoor Retailer of the Year are up despite the impact of foot and mouth

Foot and Mouth doesn't seem to have affected the level of entries
for the Outdoors Industry Association's Retailer of the Year
Award.
According to Andrew Maxted of the OIA, the 2001 awards have seen
'a staggering increase in nominations ... with just under 500 stores
being nominated by some 3,000 customers.'
Nominations closed at the end of May - a shame as there was a
prize draw for Berghaus and Maglite goodies for anyone nominating a
shop - with customers asked to put forward the shops which they
reckon offer the 'best service and advice when it comes to outdoor
clothing.'
Next step is ' a rigorous vetting procedure to determine which
shops off the higghest standards of presentation, product knowledge
and customer service.' Finalists to be announced in August, results
at the annual trade show in Harrogate this September.
You can check out last year's winners at the Go
Outdoors web site - they might surprise you.
