He's back - regular OMers may have been concerned over the curious
hibernation of OM's question and answer kit oracle, Richard Gear,
well, the good news is that Richard has returned from an arduous
sabbatical in the Andes and is now available to answer your geary
queries once again.

Richard lives in a small box on the lower righthand edge of the OM
homepage and has now answered 409 questions about gear. He can go on
a bit and some of his answers are frankly a little weird, but he
tries to help.
In the last couple of weeks, Richard has answered questions about
fleece, gas stoves, ventilated packs, baselayer choice and boot
resoling. His previous answers are searchable as well, even the one
about carrying petrol in a a rucksac that goes back to the fuel
crisis a few years ago.
