Salomon's latest
generation of lightweight boots are some of the best we've
ever used and now there's a new addition to the range, the Sky GTX, which
combines trail running shoe technology with a lightweight high-top
upper.
Weight is 530 grammes per boot for
a UK size 8.5 making it one of the lightest waterproof hiking boots on
the market.
The new boot uses design, fit and mid-sole construction from Salomon's
renowned running shoe range along with a high, lightweight upper
complete with a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane.
The Agile System Chassis, first seen on trail-running shoes,
incorporates a 'supportive skeleton for control and stabiklity'
combined with what Salomon calls 'a soft muscle for cushioning and
comfort' and 'a tendon in the sole for returning energy through each
stride'.
The boot also features anti-debris mesh, rotective heel and top caps,
an anatomical EVA footbed and an Ortholite sockliner. The latter
features recycled tyre content 'which will not break down over time'. Price is a hefty £180 apparently, we'll confirm that.
