Scarpa has
announced a new rock shoe,
the Force,
which is claimed to combine performance and comfort and is aimed
squarely at normal, middle-grade climbers rather than top-end cellar
dwellers.
We saw the new shoe at the recent KORS outdoors show and it certainly
looks the part. The construction borrows heavily from Scarpa's top-end
rock shoes, but additional rubber and internal padding are designed to
make for all-day comfort.
The last is broad and flat to suit UK feet, Scarpa's active mid-sole
technology is used claiming to 'act like a springboard; to give more
underfoot support and closure is by speedy to use Velcro strap. The
upper use a combination of suede and Lorica artificial leather. The big
plus of Lorica is that unlike genuine leather, it stretches to
accommodate your feet, but then contracts again, so the uppers don't
get baggy with use.
The Force is available in both men's and women's versions and retails
for £69.99.
