Scarpa Cumbre - subtle styling, but not available
until winter 2002
More on the news Scarpa range later in the week, but we thought you might like a sneak preview of the new mega-mountaineering boot they have lined up for winter 2002. Yep,not this winter but the one after it.

Scarpa staff were tight-lipped over the lightweight, leather winter boot, but we managed to extract a few details - the high ankle cuff may look supportive for extended bouts of crampon use, but it's also been specified for multi-directional movement, making for comfort and easy technique on steep slopes. Other features include lots of insulation - we could feel it - high spec, low weight allow lace hooks (really...) and mad colour scheme making it ideally suited for those chic continental peak groovers...

Oh, and one more thing, it feels dead light when you pick it up (which is when we were bundled off the stand...). More on Scarpa's Spring range later in the week, but we can tell you that both the leather Trek and Lite Trek fabric boot have been given a thorought overhaul with new lighter soles and styling. Pictures to follow.
