We want to know what you're carrying and wearing in our new Readers' Kit feature.

Ever wondered what your outdoors kit says about you? Do you carry the pack of a peak-eating tiger or does your baselayer shout 'shy, sensitive, mountain poet with an armpit problem'? That's why we're launching our new Readers' Kit feature.

There could be anything in there...

Every week we'd like to feature an OUTDOORSmagic member along with an idea of what's in their pack and what kit they wear for a typical day on the hills. It's a bit like the profile you might have filled in when you joined OUTDOORSmagic, but to make it a bit different, you'll also get a free 'Kit Reading' from our resident gear guru Richard Gear, who will analyse your kit and tell us what it says about you.

How To Take Part

All you have to do is jot down a simple list of your current typical day's kit, clothing and pack contents and a few lines about your general gear philosophy - do you pick stuff on price, weight, durability, are you a shameless brand tart - then tell us what your favourite single item of gear is and why.

Then finally add a photo of yourself and your pack if possible and send it to readerskit@outdoorsmagic.com don't forget to include those little oddities like the half-eaten Mars Bar you found in the bottom of your first aid kit or those inexplicable undies that have somehow found themselves in your hydration pocket... Don't worry, we won't tell your partner.

So what are you waiting for - share your pack shame with the world and win undying digital fame for five minutes :-)

My Kit List:

Karrimor Alpiniste Rucksack 45+10
Mountain Equipment Lhotse Jacket
The North Face Hyvent Waterproof Trousers
Mountain Equipment Microfleece
Rab Vapour Rise
Extremeties Windy Sticky Thicky Gloves
Polar Buff
Scarpa SL's
Smartwool Mountaineering Socks
Outdoor Designs Gaiters

Mountain Leader First Aid
Rab Survival Bivi

Bit of a gear freak, as this is my core list of kit for on the mountain but then i have a number of other things i would use for mountain biking/climbing too.
Favourite piece of kit has to be my Rab Vapour Rise - absolutely wicked!

surely you need to specify where you are going (terrain), when you are going (weather) and for how long!!

seems a bit of silly exercise unless you take into account the above factors!

I think the above list was for a recent trip to Sainsburys...
