Sprayway's Bamboo Clothing

Not just for peckish pandas as Sprayway launches bamboo clothing range for spring.

Sprayway is doing its bit for sustainability with some of its new for spring 2008 Lifewear clothing using eco-friendly bamboo-based fabrics.

Aside from its primary role of keeping pandas well fed, bamboo is also comfortable against the skin, dries fast, has temperature control properties - warm in winter, breathable in summer - and is also naturally antibacterial and antifungal.

The bamboo fabric is used in the men's Mori range and its women's equivalent, the Torino, notably in softshell jacket form and also as performance tees.

The jackets are apparently streamlined and cut with pack-friendly pockets, so they're practical as well as looking good. The fabric has stretch and weight looks decent enough at a claimed 480 grammes for the men's version.

The tees can be used either alone or as a baselayer when the bamboo's wicking and quick-drying properties should work well. Both the softshell jackets retail for £80 while the tees and £35 and £40 respectively with blokes paying more...

Sprayway's Bambo Collection also includes shorts, pants and combi-pants and a variety of shirt styles for both men and women.

Good, but you can get bamboo Ts for £8 from savilerowcompany@savile-row.co.uk, and boxers for £6. I've no connection with the company except as a very satisfied customer. The garments do what it says on the tin - cosy, comfortable, quick drying, wicking, non-pong.
