TNF adds mountain bike clothing to its range for spring 2009.
Alongside it's latest outdoors clothing and equipment for spring 2009,
The North Face has
also launched a small range of
mountain
bike clothing including baggy shorts with a proper liner
complete with padded insert.
The new
Women's Levada
Shorts - pictured above - are made from a four-way stretch
rip-stop Nylon fabric with panels of Cordura fabric at the sides for
added crash resistance plus venting at the rear. They come complete
with a clip-out liner short made from a wicking stretch fabric and
incorporating a decent pad. Price is
£70 which
is comparable with other top-end baggies.
There's also the Muddy Tracks short, with similar Cordura reinforcement
and men's versions of both.
Alongside the shorts, TNF has several bike-specific tops including this
Jasper Venture 1/4 Zip
Neck which mixes wicking polyester, some mesh vents at
underarm, side and shoulder and a small pocket complete with glasses
wipe. Out back are a couple of stash pockets for food and other
essentials. The ones on the sample we saw were a tad loose, but we're
told they've been tightened up for production versions.
Also in the range is a men's long-sleeved 1/4 zip top called the
Jasper Odyssey,
though for some reason the women's version has no zip. Plain tees and a
women's tank make up the rest of the range.
Of course there are plenty of bike-specific clothing brands out there,
but it's always interesting when a company with the background and
resources of The North Face try something new and the kit looks very
decent in the flesh.
