Latest attractions plus how to win one of 30 pairs of Merrell footwear at the Outdoor Show from Friday through to Sunday at Birmingham's NEC
Just a last minute reminder that the 2004 Outdoor Adventure Show
starts tomorrow, Friday, and runs over the weekend at the NEC in
Birmingham.
The show's even bigger than last year taking up four halls and the
lakeside area to give even more extensive coverage of walking,
climbing, canoeing, diving and pretty much anything else outdoorsy
you can think of.
We've been flagging up some of the news over the past few weeks -
see links to previous articles below - but there are few late
additions you might like to know about.
Conrad Anker, the American mountaineer who found Mallory's
body on Everest a few years ago will be giving a talk on 'The Nature
of Exploration' in the Berghaus Super Theatre on both Saturday and
Sunday. Anker has a reputation as a thinking climber and intersting
speaker, so should be well worth catching.
British explorer Benedict Allen will be giving a talk
dubbed 'Near Death' covering his, erm, near death experiences while
exploring in the Amazon Basin, Mongolia - his infamous camel trek -
and the Skeleton Coast of Namibia.
Elsewhere you'll find the Rural Pavillions section with
representatives from outdoor areas all over the UK to help you plan
your next week or weekend away in the hills and The Ramblers One
Stop Walking Shop will be offering the answers to your questions
plus a huge selection of walking books.

Footwear brand Merrell will be
sponsoring a have a go kayaking area at the show, with
expert
help available and the chance to win Merrell prizes,
plus they'll be supporting the indoor
Peak UKInternational Freestyle Competition with the 50
top UK and European paddlers
in action and,on the Merrell stand, you can take part in
a Concept Rower Challenge to win
one of 30 pairsof Merrell shoes across the weekend. Nice

If you're tempted by distant shores, The Craghoppers Adventure
Travel Show section will have more than 100 exhibitors keen to
tempt you off into the wide blue yonder plus expert travel speakers
at the Adventure Travel Theatre.
And of course there's loads more beside, with Sprayway's 'have a
go' ice wall in situ again and bouldering events supported by The
North Face.
You can find full information including lists of attractions,
exhibitors and news plus opening times at the Outdoors
Show web site.
Plus, if you fancy meeting up with other OM users on Saturday,
