Top-end budget brand Contour - yes, we know that sounds weird, but
we've been consistently impressed by the balance of quality and value
they offer - has no less than three new models tramping their way
into UK outdoor shops this spring.
The first new offering is the Sierra , a leather three-season
walking boot made from oil treated Nubuck lined with Hydro-Ban11:18
am. Contour says this boot has a very supportive midsole which is
suitable for long distances over difficult terrain and it doesn't
compromise on either weight or comfort, so it should make an ideal
mountain walking or backpacking boot. The Sierra is available in men
and women's models and retails for £85.00.
Further down the mountain is the new Nevada a superlight
and well-specced rambling boot with claimed instant
straight-from-the-box comfort. It uses very supple calf leather and
is lined with waterproof and breathable Hydro-Ban11:20 am to keep
your feet dry in that nasty wet grass. A hi-flex midsole promises to
give decent support and the boot also has EVA underfoot shock
absorption. Suggested retail is £70.00.
Finally, the new Track Shoe is based on Contour's
top-selling Trail boot. It's a modern, low-cut waterproof shoe using
the same Hydro-Ban lining as the Nevada. You also get speed lacing
and what Contour calls 'easy fit'. Top sole makers Skywalk are
responsible for the 'Cushionlight; sole unit, which is reckoned to
offer 'excellent grip and stability. The shoe is available in both
men's and women's versions, yours for £50.
