Are these the best outdoor shops in Britain? Go Outdoors has released the shortlisted shops in its Retailer of the Year competition

The shortlist for the Go Outdoors Retailer of the Year awards has been announced.

The annual competition is organised by the outdoors industry's trade association, Go Outdoors, and around 500 retailers were nominated by members of the public. There are three shops in each of seven regions on the shortlist and all those stores shortlisted have had to submit 'details' to a judging panel of industry luminaries and experts and Matt Swaine of Trail magazine.

The shortlisted stores have also been visited by retail monitoring specialists Amber Arch's 'mystery shopping team' to determine regional and overall winners. The winners will be announced at next month's Harrogate trade show, but we though you might like to see the shortlist...

I can't remember what is was but I was told that Millets or Blacks (same company) always used to win cos they nobbled it, but then something changed and now YHA always does.

Or something.
