Triangulate To Innovate
Vango come up with an interesting new idea in the battle to stop their geodesic tent poles from flexing, but is it more Wallace than Grommett?

Triangulated things in tents are nothing particularly new -
geodesic designs rely on mutual support from other poles - but we
thought this was an interesting new take on it from Scottish gear
guys Vango.

good to see some innovation from a

Their new TSS - Tri-Support System - uses two mini-poles to
support the base of the main corner poles in two of their
top-of-the-range Force Ten geodesic tents for 2002. They claim that
the extra support 'adds significantly more stability to an upright
alloy pole particularly in a geodesic configuration.'
It's either brilliant or the product of a Wallace and Grommet
design philosophy gone mad - we'll have to wait and see how they work
in reality, but in a midlands field, the new Vortex and Spindrift
poles felt pretty damn stable to us.
