Two new lightweight packs complete with hydration bladders from Vango.
Vango has
two new packs in its Ultralite
range of lightweight kit for
spring 2010 in the
shape of the
Sprint
and the
Rapide
with capacities of 3 litres and 20 litres respectively.
The new
Sprint
is a minimalist hydration pack with a capacity of 3 litres and comes
complete with a 2-litre bladder and is, says Vango, designed to be
durable with a body fabric of Excel® 420D honeycomb
polyester with a PU coating.
There's an Air Mesh padded foam back, waist strap, grab handle,
shock-cord cargo net and a front pocket with key clip. Looks a good
option if you're a fast-mover on a tight budget with a retail price of
just
£17.
Bigger brother, the
Rapide,
is more of an all-round day pack with a capacity of 20 litres, though
it's aimed at 'urban adventure racers and cyclists', it says here, with
a helmet 'stow' compartment for, erm, stowing helmets.
Main compartment with zip entry, two front zip pockets, Air Mesh back
and, like the Sprint, it comes with a 2-litre hydration system. Price
is
£25,
so again, looking like very decent value.
But of course, you're asking the question, 'how much do the Ultralite
packs weigh?' And the answer is, they are pretty light at 330 grammes
for the Sprint and 600 grammes for the larger Rapide. Both those
weights include the 2-litre hydration system, though obviously not
water - two litres of water would weigh 2kg.
