VauDe Tiak Jacket - a 300g, 2.5-layer waterproof. Women's version below.
Hoag shirt, we think, distinctive print, zip-neck and a small, zipped pocket out back.
Ican Pant - baggies with stretch panels, mean in black also available in girlie pink below.
And on the pack front, the Aquarias 10+3 complete with 2-litre reservoir.

A fair few outdoor brands run cycling ranges alongside their outdoor range - The North Face for one and Montane - and now VauDe has a range of new mountain biking kit out for 2012, applying their expertise in producing technical outdoor kit to cycling.

Lightweight Waterproof

Given the state of the summer so far, you might want to check out the Tiak Jacket in both men's and women's versions. It's a 2.5-layer, lightweight waterproof jacket which weighs just 211g in women's guise and just over 300g for the guys.

It doesn't have a hood - they tend to get in the way on the bike - but you do get useful under-arm ventilation, water-resistant zips, adjustable cuffs and hems, reflective bits for night-time safety and a bike-specific cut. Women's version is £145 while the men's is a fiver more at £150.

Techy Baggies

Down below, the Ican Pants are baggy mountain biking shorts complete with a padded liner short for extra butt protection. They're pretty high-tech with stretch panels in strategic areas for easy mobility on the bike, two leg pockets with zips and a Velcro-adjusable waistband with a double-popper fastening, judging from the pics and belt-loops, so your pants should stay where you put them. Price is £90. Weight 285g (w) and 300g mens thanks to the use of lightweight fabrics.

Patterned Jersey

The Hoag Shirt is a distinctive mountain-biking jersey with a stand-up collar and zip-neck plus short sleeves. The high-wicking fabric has a decorative print and there's also a small back pocket with a zip to stow your essentials securely if you're going packless. It retails for £60.

Hydration Pack

And finally, given VauDe's expertise in the pack area, it's no surprise to find a bike-friendly hydration pack in the form of the Aquarius 10+3, an 1140g sac which comes complete with an Aquarius 2.0 reservoir, side and front mesh pockets, a front outer pocket with internal mesh organiser, compression straps, reflective bits and a helmet holder. Looks neat too.

Green and hot pink... now there's a combination I'll be happy not to see again. Is there someone we can call to tell that's enough contrast zips already? (and I'm usually a fan of bright!)
