Legendary specialist fell-running specialist Walsh is launching a
brand new trail-running
collection for 2010 drawing on its 40 plus years of
experience on the fells.
The Walsh brand is the leader in the fell shoe market and the company
says its using its experience from making fell shoes to produce a range
of four models, including a boot, intended to suit 'differing needs and
preferences' including crossover running and hill-walking use.
The Spirit Peak
seems to be the all-rounder in the new range with a new Pyra Grip sole
claimed to give optimum grip and control over rough surfaces for both
walking and running. There's also a lightweight option, the Spirit Lite, which
is aimed more at xc, trail running and and long distance racing.
The other two models in the range are the Enforcer and the Spirit React. The Enforcer - weird
name - is the boot in the range and should appeal to lightweight
walkers who are wary of low-cut shoes. It's waterproof for year round
use. Meanwhile the Spirit React is a waterproof all-round
multi-activity shoe.
You can see just from looking at the images of the new range that they
have significantly more cushioning underfoot than sparsely padded fell
shoes, but less than road shoes, with the aim of giving an optimal
compromise between stability and cushioning.
