To enter you need to be a member of OUTDOORSmagic, so if you haven't joined yet, then use the box on the lefthand side of the site to become a member. Membership allows you to post on the forum, review kit and upload pics to the gallery, you can also opt to receive a weekly newslletter if you choose. We will not send you unsolicited mail and your details will remain strictly private.

Once you're a member, we want you to submit a picture of yourself in your Gore-Tex kit braving the worst the weather can throw at you - we're not too bothered about the technical quality of the photo, what we're judging on is 'who is having a great day' and the worse the conditions, the better.

Next go to the Gore Competition Gallery and click the 'add image' link. This will take you to the image submission page.

Follow the instructions on the page to upload your image, note that it must be under 250k in size. If you're having trouble with sizing the image, ask a young person for help...

In the title box put your name.

In the comments box tell us where the picture was taken and explain in no more than 25 words why this was a great day by completing the following sentence: 'This was a great day because...'

Ummm is it just me or has anyone else noticed this...

The people who would want/need a Lowe gore-tex paclite might not have "Gore-Tex kit" at the moment hence why they would want to enter the competition.

Should it be retitled "upgrade your gore-tex kit competition"?!

Yes, I thought that too. I haven't owned anything made of gore-tex (apart from those bl**dy awful Salomon boots) since about 1988. By the time I had to replace my old Berghaus Mistral, the cheap stuff had overtaken the old Goretex kit so I've never bothered since. £200 for a pac-a-mac doesn't appeal.

Maybe a better competition would have been "send in a photo of yourself soaking wet through and really fed up in your leaky old bin-bag". I would have had a few entries lined up for that.
