The Health and Safety Executive is launching a video aimed at
improving safety at indoor climbing walls.
Targeted at climbing wall managers, health and safety inspectors
and anyone else with time to kill, the imaginatively titled 'Get A
Grip - Health & Safety at Indoor Climbing Walls' will be launched
by Chris Bonington this Saturday.
The film was made after extensive consultation with the BMC and
other relevant bodies and aims to show examples of 'best practice' at
indoor walls, in other words, it's aimed at minimising indoor
cratering potential.
BMC General Secretary Roger Payne 'will say': 'The video will help
gain recognition for the acceptance of personal responsibility for
participation in sport at managed facilities. We believe the video
will also highlight good management at climbing walls.'
We say, get a grip guys, speak English purleez. Translation: 'The
vid' says it's down to climbing wall users and managers to make sure
that they don't do anything stupid and make big holes in the floor,
we also reckon it'll teach climbing wall managers a few things
they ought to know...'
