If you've ever seen John Dunne in the flesh, you'll appreciate how
astonishing it is that a big, hefty-looking Yorkshireman can climb
with such consumate grace and skill.
So, who better to teach you how to slink your own way up blank
expanses of rock? Plas y Brenin, the Welsh National Mountain Centre,
has two weekend masterclasses scheduled with John on 2/3 February and
2/3 March.
To quote the Brenin blurb:
'John will be orchestrating the entire weekend himself with
in-depth analysis of personal motivation, goal setting, warming up,
movement and body positioning. Working with a small group, using our
indoor climbing and training walls, John will assess your technique
and offer specific individual advice on areas like finger and upper
body strength, stamina, recovery, resting, on-sight route finding and
breaking routes down.'
You also get to see his slide show free of charge on Saturday
night. The weekends are aimed at leaders at grades from VS to E3.
Cost is £200 including bed and nosh and you can get more details
either by e-mail by phone 01690
720214 or see the web
site.
Plas y Brenin also have late place availability on their Scottish
Winter courses in the second half of this month (January).
