If you've ever struggled to pull on some marginally-zipped overtrouser while wearing walking boots - cue tragic hippety hopping balancey dance of doom - you'll appreciate this week's Monday Kit Tip courtesy of OM reader Matt Fuller.

Overtrousers The Easy Way

'When you put on or remove overtrousers, put a plastic bag over your boot first before trying to wrestle them over the boots,' says Matt.  'Reduces the friction enormously. Getting overtrousers on becomes a five second job and the  inside of the trousers remain clean. The same is said for getting them off.

'Two situations where it doesn't work: while wearing crampons or while wearing skis. In those situations you need some zips...'

It's a classic that you'll end up using again and again and well worth the minimal hassle of carrying a placcy bag with you. And best of all, no more wet sock horror...

If you've got a killer tip of your own, just drop us a line and we'll share it with other OUTDOORSmagic readers.

Hi from the Republic of Ireland.

Here's an old bikers tip from an old biker ! It will work equally well with ski-goggles, spectacles, or diving/ swimming eye-wear. On the inside of a clean visor/goggles etc. polish the surface with a match-head sized blob of detergent/shampoo and a dry tissue or lint-free cloth. This leaves an invisible anti-mist film on the inside. If you want rain to disperse quickly off your shades or goggles, before you go out polish the outside surface with " roll-your-own " tobacco, then buff with tissue or cloth....ready-made ciggies won't do. Probably too much chemicals or tobacco is too dry. " Roll-your-own" stuff leaves an invisible oily film that helps disperse water.

Just don't take up smoking !
