Full Programme

7:30 Introduction film and Welcome - Judith Brown

7:35 DOLOMITE TRANCE (France) 7mins Runner Up Video Short

Directed and Produced by: Ride the Planets

The Brandler/Hasse route on the North Face of the Cime Grande de Laveredo makes a fine climb, and the overhanging wall the perfect place for a quick exit - short classic combining climbing with B.A.S.E.

7:45 NORTH WEST PASSAGE - ON FRANKLIN'S TRAIL (Ireland) Directed and produced by John Murray

Sailing a small boat through the Northwest Passage is one of the truly great challenges left on earth. The film follows an Irish crew of eight men as they cross the Atlantic and force a passage through to the Pacific on a three month adventure. They travel through a spectacular Arctic world of ice, mountains and frozen wastes, a world that had mysteriously swallowed up the expedition of John Franklin 150 years earlier.

8:55 BREAK

9:15 LE CHEVAL 2.1 (GB) Judges Special mention
Directed and Produced by Alex Kirkland

A brilliant short film of the absurd. Satirical on several levels - don't blink!

9:20 BALANCE OF RISK (GB) 9mins
Directed and Produced by Brian Hall, Keith Partridge, Jamie Andrew

Climber Jamie Andrew returns to the rock after a horrific accident on the North Face of the Droites in the French Alps which killed his climbing partner. This intelligent portrait from Kendal Festival Director Brain Hall and Extreme Film School Manager Keith Partridge has considerable praise at overseas Festivals.

9:30 YOUR HIMALAYA (Spain) Grand Prize Winner 2004
Directed by Alberto Iñurrategi Produced by Anaiak Iñurrategi & Aretxabaleta

After Touching The Void, this beautiful film by Basque film maker and climber Alberto Iñurrategi adds a new dimension to mountain film making: a passionate and poetic tribute to his brother Felix, who died on Gasherbrum 2 while the brothers on the quest to complete all the 8000m peaks. The loss forces Alberto to question his motivation as he returns to the Himalaya to carry on without Felix at his side.

10:10 THE GOD (Russia) 4 mins P4
Directed by Konstantin Bronzit Produced by Sergey Selyanoy & Alexander Boyarsky

A clever, animated short in which even a God can become furious with a pesky fly - don't underestimate the will to re-incarnate!
