Climber Wanted To Live In Monastery

Fancy six weeks of monastic seclusion? A TV company is looking for a climber to live in a monastery alongside a community of monks and the odd spiritually literate TV camera.

A television production company is looking for a climber to live in a monastery for six weeks along with three individuals from other walks of life.

Apparently the idea is that climbers 'are able to take spiritual journeys'. The four individuals will live alongside a community of monks and the experience will form the basis of three one-hour documentaries commissioned by the BBC's Religion and Ethics department.

The aim, says Tiger Aspect is: 'to place our volunteers in an environment where they can explore their own relationship to spirituality in an atmosphere of quiet contemplation. For them, it is an opportunity to reflect on the lives they are leading, examine their priorities and review the choices they have made. They would also learn about the history and traditions of monastic life and be given guidance on their spiritual quest.'

So if you're at a crossroads in your life and fancy six weeks of soul-searching and monastic seclusion with only a community of monks and some TV cameras for company, this is your chance. You don't, by the way, need to be a Christian to take part.

Filming is apparently due to take place in July and August and Tiger Aspect will ensure that people are not out of pocket. If you want to take part then the first step is to contact Gabe Solomon on 020 7544 1637 or by e-mail.
