Last of the BBC mountaineering series looks at K2 - 'The Savage Mountain' - arguably the hardest and most dangerous of the 8000-metre summits and in particular the early American attempts and some of their associated tragedies. BBC details. A must see we reckon.

And it was - fascinating to see wrinkled, American vet climbers recalling epic situations in an incredibly composed, matter of fact manner all these years later. If you get the chance to see it again, take it.

Holiday Swaps

Terrible Beeb programme where typically a family of beach lizards are forced to swap places with, for example, a group about to attempt K2 - see above - tonight's swap is a trekking holiday on Thailand for a gourmet cooking holiday. Always good for a load of ingratitude, which makes you wonder why they bothered making the programme in the first place.
