Just a gentle reminder that, if you've got a blank sheet in your
diary, for the weekend of 16/17 November, you could be gawping at
some of the best mountain film, art and photography at the Kendal
Film Festival.
There's more information in our previous articles - see below -
and, of course, from the Festival's own site www.mountainfilm.co.uk
where there are full details of the programme and ticket prices with
a secure online booking facility.
As well as the films, speakers include Kuert Diemberger, Stepehn
Venables, John Dunne, Lynn Hill, Alan Hinkes, Mick Fowler and Ian
Parnell. Latest news is that after his Saturday lecture sold out,
Kurt Diemberger will be giving a second lecture on Sunday.
On the film side,t four outstanding prize winners at the recent
Banff Festival have been preselected for the Kendal programme
including Banff grand prize winner "The Second Step" and Peter
Mortimer's "Front Range Freaks". In addition The UK film "Crampons
and Cannibals" directed by Bruce Parry and Mark Anstice won two
prizes at Banff. On top of that, the film makers of the three
winners in Banff will also be at Kendal.
It all means some stiff competition for UK film-makers including
Steve Long and the extraordinary Leo Houlding. More details from the
web site or
you can buy tickets by phone on 01539 725133.
