Manchester Nepal Festival Last Weekend

Culture, cuisine, talks and films plus appearances by Doug Scott and Jo Gambi.

A bit of a last minue heads up for OMers in the North West - this weekend is the 4th Nepal Himalayan Festival in Manchester.

Running from Friday May 30 - Sunday June 1st 2008, the Festival takes place at Manchester Town Hall and outside in Albert Square and celebrates the history and culture of Nepal. It features stalls, exhibitions, yoga workshops, a climbing wall, fashion shows and talks and films about Nepal.

Of particular interest to mountaineers are appearance by Doug Scott and Jo Gambi, the second British woman to climb Everest.

It also featured large amounts of very nice curry when I went a couple of years ago. In fact I also bought a case of Kukri Nepalese beer there too, as a bit of a joke for my other half, only to discover it was brewed by John Willy Lees in Manchester...
