A quick heads up for today, Tuesday 6 February, with the first of a new six-part Discovery Channel series, 'Everest Beyond The Limit' showing tonight at 10pm.

The programme follows Russell Brice's team up the north side of the mountain and uses high altitude video footage including some from small cameras mounted to Sherpas' helmets.

In the first episode, tonight, the six-person team moves to Advanced Base Camp at 6400 metres and begins the climb to the North Col. Looks interesting.

You can find full details at www.discoverychannel.co.uk together with a trailer for the series. There's also a taster and some footage at www.discoverybroadband.co.uk, sample voiceover: 'What happens when a handful of dreamers take on the mother of all mountains?'

Thanks Darren, you've spawned a news article :-)

I don't know about the 'handfull of dreamers' bit mind, Russel B is one of the most experienced Everest expeditioners out there. Should be a bit of a contrast with the British Army expedition anyway...

Jon, no probs.
I'm betting on less drunklen brawls on a Friday and Saturday night after closing time, to be the main difference.
