Site Takes The Biscuit...

One man's web celebration of tea, cake and biscuits. So what's your biccy of choice after a day on the hill?

As we all know the main point of walking, climbing, scrambling and other outdoor activities is to be able to consume more biscuits without turning into a huge, lard-arsed, coke-sucking, sofa-dwelling, TV-addicted wretch or in some cases, simply to make the process less obvious.

So it's gratifying to see a site dedicated to the simple necessities of tea, cake and biscuits hitting the headlines. The site, www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com carries the sterling mission statement:

'Well I think we should all sit down and have a nice cup of tea, and some biscuits, nice ones mind you. Oh and some cake would be nice as well. Lovely.'

Which is hard to argue with. Unfortunately, it's so popular at the time of writing that it loads at the unenviable velocity of black treacle being poured at the North Pole.

For the record, the OUTDOORSmagic editorial biscuits of choice are:

1. Fig Rolls for those gnarly mountain days when energy bars cost too much and you just need to keep going at a reasonable price

2. Plain Chocolate Hobnobs for post climbing tea-quaffing episodes back home

3. Tesco Half Chocolate-Coated Orange Cookies for totally self-indulgent rest day lard-loading activities.

4. Jaffa Cakes for post training session re-loading. They're actually relatively healthy and have a protein / carbo mix of sorts, anyway, that's our excuse...

We're voting for Plain Chocolate Hobnobs, but what about you? The plain bit's important, btw, milk choccy ones are okay, but the plain chocolate variety are the conoisseur's choice and that's a fact(ish).

It all depends on your priorities.

Obviously taste is the main factor, but what about robustness, dunkability and availablity?

For instance, rich teas and digestives sustain terminal damage fairly easily compared to say, bourbons, custard creams, fig rolls etc.

Its not just a simple case of whats your fave bisuit, oh no.

We HAVE tried to come up with a definitive top ten here at work, but we started squabbling over what position the sponge finger should occupy, and it all degenerated to name calling and an elastic band fight. So we stopped.
