A quick pre-minder that the BAFTA Award-winning film of Joe Simpson's epic mountaineering survival story Touching The Void is on the telly later this week, so if you've not seen it yet, tie a knot in the cat to remind you - it's well worth watching.

The film, made by Oscar-winning director Kevin MacDonald, mixes speaking to camera footage of Joe Simpson and Simon Yates with some of the most realistic mountaineering footage ever seen. The film crew, with Simpson and Yates, actually shot footage on Siula Grande in Peru, the mountain Simpson was climbing, while the dramatic close-up climbing sequences and extraordinary crevasse-escape episodes were filmed in the Alps during real storm conditions.

Check out links at the bottom of this page for more background on the film and a full OM review. Touching The Void is on Channel Four at 9.00 pm on Thursday 4 November. Don't miss it.
