It's a double whammy routes week including what we reckon is our best two-dayer yet.

It's a double whammy routes week on OUTDOORSmagic. First of all we have what we reckon is our best two-dayer yet, a classic mixed walking and scrambling route on a glorious Scottish island, with fantastic pics.

Then there's this week's scramble, a neat alternative romp to the top of one of the most dramatic mountains in the Lakes. And that's just the tip of the routes iceberg, we have another 16 scrambles in the Lakes alone, just see our Routes Archive for more.

Last but not least, we've just published the most comprehensive guide to child carriers on the web. All you need to know about taking your baby or toddler oop t'hill on your back in comfort.

Have a great outdoors weekend,

Jon and the team at OUTDOORSmagic.com

    Reviews
    Terra Nova Laserlarge 1
'I thought at first that the LL felt a bit flimsy, especially the fly material, but it can withstand a goodly wind, though do be prepared for some flapping about if you've not got a good taut pitch.'
    Paramo Alta
'It is just dry - I mean dry - whatever the weather throws at you, you remain dry! Did I mention that it is completely waterproof?! The vents work very well while on the move, and the hood adjusts to the actual shape you want it to.'
    Scarpa Nepal Walking Boot
'Really comfortable, good all round hillwalking boot! I would recommend them to everyone. I've had to keep on top of reproofing, but they're still the best boots I've had and when these are gone I'll get another pair - nuff said.'

    Best Synthetic Sleeping Bag
'I don't want a down bag. All I want is a bag that really will keep you warm at minus five degrees. So, who has used their bag and been warm at that temperature?'
    New Alpkit AlpineDream 300???
'I made a suggestion to Alpkit about adding a lighter weight sleeping bag to the AlpineDream range, the premise being that the 500 bag is suitable down to -5, which is generally too warm for most people for 4 months of the year.'
    New Rucksack
'I am looking for a rucksack that I can use for general hiking/trekking in the Lake District. I looked at a friend's Berghaus Freeflow 35 and quite liked it but the Freeflow 'away from body' design doesn't seem to be the most stable.'
